A Mother Shares Her Love of Pokemon with Her Children

ArtCorgi Commission for Monica Before and After by ArtCorgi

A while back, Monica received the gift of an ArtCorgi portrait featuring her with her favorite Pokemon Evee. Her son and daughter, Anthony and Angela, loved the piece, so Monica commissioned a portrait (by the same artist, Lucía García) of the two with their favorite Pokemon. We love how it came out!

Backstory Behind the Piece: Q&A with Monica

ArtCorgi (AC): What inspired you to commission this art?

Monica (M): I was inspired by a commission that was given to me as a gift, which is the picture of me with the Evee Pokemon that was completed by the same artist. I used it on my Facebook and my children seeing the photo really like the idea so I told them I would have one completed with them in it with there favorite Pokemon.

AC: For how long have the kids been into Pokemon? What do they think of the piece?

M: My kids have been in to Pokemon for a long time. About three years ago, they had found my old Pokemon cards (from when they first hit America) and they loved them so they started to collect the new ones and get the new games.

AC: What advice would you give to someone who is commissioning art for the first time?

M: I would say that go all out don’t be afraid to ask for wild ideas. The artist know what there doing and will make a great piece. Don’t be afraid to ask for changes or for small personal things to be added to the pieces—— it really brings it together.
