Artists on ArtCorgi: Nell Fallcard

Scarlett by Nell FallcardNell Fallcard is another amazing artist on ArtCorgi that specializes in realistic portraits in a whimsical and dreamlike style. As soon as we saw this first reference photos in her application, we immediately fell in love. She was kind enough to answer a few of our questions about her life and her art style in general.

“I work from home, love freelance and advance at my own pace, I can’t stand fixed schedules and thinking a 9 to 5 work would eventually give me cancer, I am always looking for alternatives that allow me the freedom to sleep when I am sleepy, eat when I am hungry, travel when I feel like and all of those artsy quirks. I am great with deadlines so no issues there :D”

ArtCorgi: What drew you to the art world?

Nell: First, the cartoons I watched as a child, I used to watch an episode and then run to draw a comic of the plot with my own characters inserted. As I started growing up, I discovered other artistic ramifications – animation, illustration, concept art, mattepainting, 3D, VFX – and I’ve been switching between them out of curiosity, being drawing and painting always a constant.

A: What are your strengths and specialties as an artist?

N: As an artist, I’d say I got a good eye for color correction and detail. As an illustrator, I am good with clients to the point I can surf clientsfromhell.net and say “that’s not precisely impossible/unrealistic, the designer could have solved that easily” circa 80% of the time.

A: What do you find most challenging about being an artist?

N: To figure out where are you going to be in 5 years.

A: What are your future artistic plans?

N: To create my own IPs via illustrated books / animations.

A: What is your favorite genre, style, or subject matter to draw/paint?

N: I am always experimenting, I paint beautiful girls and attractive men in relaxed but expressive body poses as a comfort area, but I do not decline a challenge.
