An Epic Ode to a Favorite Stuffed Animal

ArtCorgi Commission Before and After by BenDX

For many, favorite stuffed animals are a part of the family, right alongside siblings, favorite pets, and close friends. We are all for commemorating them in meaningful ways, and love the piece Brecken commissioned from BenDX.

BenDX created this brilliant battle scene Brecken dreamed up in the style of his digital fantasy illustrations. Check out his commission page to see more samples of his work.

Backstory Behind the Piece: Q&A with Brecken

ArtCorgi (AC): What inspired you to commission this art?

Brecken (B): My girlfriend had had a stuffed penguin since she was little, and he is now falling apart. I wanted to immortalize Penguin so that he could be remembered once he is beyond repair. Penguin is the best at fighting monsters, so obviously he needed to be blasting bad guys in his big debut art piece.

AC: What drew you to BenDX’s style?

B: I knew what I wanted was silly, but I wanted it to be an epic piece. BenDX had already looked like he had success with doing abstract monsters, as well as having a serious tone. He looked like someone who could handle the commission well. His monsters look like a cross between old classic RPG games, and fairy tale monsters, which was perfect for me.

AC: What advice would you give to a friend who is commissioning art for the first time?

B: Definitely make sure you give any specifics you want covered. I was fortunate to remember to specify Penguin’s very specific scarf and draw attention to it. Your artists can not know what the most important details are unless you tell them!
