Backstory Behind the Piece

ArtCorgi (AC): What inspired you to commission this art?

Thomas (T): I was inspired when I saw a friend of mine on Facebook post an awesome commission from ArtCorgi as his profile picture. I’ve used ArtCorgi before to commission an anniversary gift for my wife and really had a great experience. Building off of that past experience, I felt that if I had my own artistic rendition of myself that it would help me standout a bit more in the social networking world. I plan on using this image on my YouTube channel as well as on LinkedIn and already have it set as my profile picture on Facebook.

AC: How did you go about selecting an artist/style?

T: I selected this artist because I had really liked the professional, clean look of my friend’s commissioned work. The style is almost photo realistic, but somewhat cell shaded, and I was very impressed that it was all illustrated digitally by hand.

AC: What advice would you give to a friend who is commissioning art for the first time?

T: The best advice I would give is to first have a clear vision of what you would like before you commission a work. From there, choose reference photos that accurately depict defining aspects of your vision. Pick a style that you feel would best emulate this vision and trust your artist. If something doesn’t turn out the way you like in the draft, speak up and be polite! The artists at ArtCorgi are there to work with you to help make your artistic vision a reality!
