Who doesn’t love a good old fashioned steampunk portrait? We love Blacksmiley’s take on the aesthetic; she created this commmission for Savannah in a modified version of her black and white comic style.

Backstory Behind the Piece – Q&A with Savannah

ArtCorgi (AC): What inspired you to commission a portrait of yourself?

Savannah (S): I’ve been wanting have a self-portrait in a different style. And seeing the artists qualities caught my eyes.

AC: What is it that draws you to the steampunk aesthetic?

S: Lately I’ve been in a steampunk mood and wanted to see what I would look if I was in a steampunk genre.

AC: We love that you combined several stylistic genres with this piece. What advice would you give to others who are interested in working several different styles into a portrait? How can they determine whether they will work well together like yours did?

S: The advise I would give is continue practice drawing especially the human figure then experiment with different art styles until they develop their own.
