Marcel in Central Park

Marcel in Central Park by Mourphine before and after via ArtCorgi

While many of the commission orders we receive are intended to celebrate certain people, others are meant to celebrate specific places, as is the case with this charming commission Marcel commissioned from Mourphine, featuring New York City’s Central Park.

Backstory Behind the Piece – Q&A with Marcel

ArtCorgi (AC): What inspired you to commission an illustration of yourself?

Marcel (M): My time in NYC last year was full of such wonderful experiences, one of many was a relaxing cigar on the boundary of Central Park. I thought it would be fun to get an artistic representation completed of the day, with some minor variations, these are: instead of cold winds it’s a beautiful Summer day and instead of smoking on the boundary of Central Park I’m smoking in it (now illegal I believe).

AC: Why did you choose Central Park as your setting?

M: Central Park was one of my favourite places in NYC.

AC: What is your favorite aspect of Central Park?

M: The calm, peacefulness within one of the worlds fastest paced cities. Beautiful juxtaposition.
