Melissa’s Romantic Anniversary Portrait

Lucia Garcia ArtCorgi Commission Before and after for Melissa

Lucía García’s anime bust portrait commission style may be popular for social media avatars, however this lovely commission for Melissa shows it works splendidly for couple portraits as well. We are happy to see the style becoming so popular!

Backstory Behind the Piece: Q&A With Melissa

ArtCorgi (AC): What inspired you to commission this art?

Melissa (M): My boyfriend means a lot to me, and for our one year anniversary I wanted to do something really special and fun! I wanted the gift to be appropriately mushy, considering the occasion, but also something just super cool that would keep being cool after the day had passed, and I wanted it to stand out from the dinky little homemade things I give him already (Not that those aren’t really cute. Because they totally are). The idea of seeing an artist’s rendering of the two of us got stuck in my head, so I went with it!

AC: How did you go about selecting an artist/style?

M: Both of us (he exponentially more than I) are huge dorks who are into anime and stuff. It’s a shared interest, and as soon as I saw the samples of Lucia Garcia’s artwork, I fell in love! Her style really appealed to me, and I was confident that she could produce something he and I would both adore!

AC: What advice would you give to a friend who is interested in commissioning art for the first time?

M: Be excited and have an open mind! A lot of the thrill in it for me was the feeling of not knowing quite what to expect beyond the things I did request. The whole process was so exciting and so much fun for me, and I know that if I had stressed out too much about it all it would have been a very different experience!
