Backstory Behind the Piece: Q&A with Julie

ArtCorgi (AC): What inspired you to commission this art?

Julie (J): My husband has a large poster of Abraham Lincoln riding a bear while holding a gun and the Emancipation Proclamation hanging in his office which he absolutely loves. I thought what better way to celebrate his birthday that to make him the hero in his very own over-the-top, bombastic piece of art in the same style as the one hanging in his office.

AC: How did you go about selecting an artist/style?

J: I wanted to find someone who was similar artistically to the poster my husband had and honestly had no idea how I was going to go about finding an artist. It wasn’t until I stumbled across a post on reddit about the founder of the this site commissioning art to propose to his girlfriend that I discovered ArtCorgi and found the artist that had the exact look I was going for.

AC: What advice would you give to a friend who is interested in commissioning art for the first time?

J: Be as descriptive as possible. I was incredibly detailed in the description of what I was looking for even down to background scene and am so happy with the end result.
