A Thoughtful Portrait Gift for a Sister

ArtCorgi Commission Before and After

Most of the gift-related commission orders we receive are for husbands, wives, girlfriends, and boyfriends, so this commission Abie ordered for her sister (as a holiday gift) stands out! Abie had Lucía García illustrate her in her anime bust portrait style.

Backstory Behind the Piece: Q&A with Abie

ArtCorgi (AC): What inspired you to commission this art?

Abie (A): My sister loves Manga and I saw the art work by Robert DeJesus. I thought it would make a lovely, original Christmas present for her so I looked around at getting one commissioned.

AC: How did you go about selecting an artist/style?

A: A friend of mine draws and creates her own comics books so I asked for her advice and she directed me to ArtCorgi. The site had lots of talented artists to choose from but Lucia Garcia’s work really stood out for me. The manga style matched the style in the books my sister reads and her gallery had some beautiful pieces.

AC: What advice would you give to a friend who is interested in commissioning art for the first time?

A: Before diving in, ask around, you’d be surprise how many people you know are interested in art and can offer good advice. Also, to trust the artists. I was quite vague about what I wanted because I am not an artist and therefore I couldn’t truly envisage what it would look. Give the artist some helpful points but let them be creative with the content… you’ll be amazed at the beautiful artwork they create.
