A Fun Comic Portrait of Andre

Color Comic Portrait of Andre by Blacksmiley

Blacksmiley’s comic portraits are growing ever more popular! While her black and white portraits are most commonly chosen, her color portraits also look great, as you can see with this comic portrait Andre commissioned of himself.

Backstory Behind the Piece – Q&A with Andre

ArtCorgi (AC): What inspired you to commission a portrait of yourself?

Andre (A): I was referred by a friend and thought it was a neat service.

AC: What drew you to Blacksmiley’s comic style rather than some other style (e.g. something more realistic, cartoon style, stylized, etc.)?

A: Thought it would look great with a headshot. The idea was based off of other people using him for mostly headshot, which led me to believe that is what Blacksmiley specialized in.

AC: What advice would you give to someone who would like to have an illustrated portrait of themselves, but does not know where to start with regard to choosing the right reference photo and an appropriate style?

A: Pick a high quality photo, provide two photos as a reference to details regarding appearance and characteristics, provide clear feedback and initial instructions, and have fun!
